Hey, I’m Jean

I lead engineers by day and ship products by night.

I am a Head of Engineering, an entrepreneur, and the owner of Tosh Labs, the studio behind Pausr, Pulsr, and Epistle. I turn fuzzy ideas into software that people actually use.

Engineering leader with a founder’s itch.

I have spent the past 12 years building and leading engineering teams, and I never stopped shipping. In that time I have worked for brands like Herschel, Bell, Article, Gamersupps, and iFit, either directly on their teams or on projects delivered for them. Today I lead engineering for a cross-border commerce platform, and I run Tosh Labs, my product studio, where ideas become production software in weeks instead of quarters.

Pausr, Pulsr, and Epistle are my first three products, and each one solves a problem I have seen up close. Pausr helps teams actually take their vacation. Pulsr removes the busywork from engineering management. Epistle carves out a daily moment of quiet. They are the beginning of a longer roadmap, with more on the way.

The story so far.

Where it started

Learning how commerce really works.

Software engineer

I cut my teeth as a software engineer at a global apparel brand, where I built the integration between the Shopify storefront and Dynamics GP, and later led the migration to BlueCherry. Sitting between the storefront and the back office taught me how commerce actually runs, because orders, inventory, and finance systems all have to agree.

The platform years

Scaling the systems behind global commerce.

Engineering manager

From there I moved into leading engineering teams on the platforms that power commerce at global scale. I ran a multi-tenant order orchestration platform handling routing, fulfillment, billing, and logistics integrations, and I owned the redesign of an internal platform used every day by merchants, operations, and engineers. That chapter sharpened how I think about distributed systems, reliability, and the people who operate them.

Today

Leading engineering across borders.

Head of engineering

Today I lead a globally distributed engineering team building cross-border commerce infrastructure. We take the friction out of selling internationally by handling shipping logistics, tax and product compliance, merchant of record services, and multi-currency pricing, connected to the wider ecosystem through more than 30 logistics and compliance integrations. My job is to keep the vision, the roadmap, and the culture pointed in the same direction.

Things I’ve shipped.

My technical toolbox.

These are the technologies behind twelve years of shipping software, some in my own editor and some through the teams I lead.

Tosh Labs.

Tosh Labs is my product engineering studio, and it takes ideas from first concept to scalable product. We partner with startups to validate concepts, ship production-ready software, and scale what works. We are not a vendor; we are an invested partner that asks the hard questions.
